EU Green Deal commissioner visiting shore power project Royal Roos
Mr Maroš Šefčovič, Executive Vice-President of the European Commission for the European Green Deal #EUGreenDeal, Interinstitutional Relations and #Foresight, visited Rotterdam to explore various projects supported by Kansen voor West.
On the agenda was a visit to Royal Roos, where a shore power cabinet for seagoing vessels has been installed.
In the picture, you see Maroš Šefčovič, Alderman Robert Simons and Managing Director of Royal Roos, Fulko Roos. Royal Roos receives subsidy from the EFRO/REACT EU program of Kansen voor West for the shore power installation for seagoing vessels up to 280kW (400/440/690V, 50/60Hz).
Aiming to create a sustainable shore power facility for the users of the adjacent quayside at Merwehaven, Rotterdam.
Mr Roos commented "Shore power is getting more and more attention, and it should. Shore power is a quick and easy method for (smaller) vessels to reduce emissions and carbon footprint with an immediate and measurable effect. It is good to see that, both through the European Union and the City of Rotterdam, strong support is being generated for these initiatives. A big thanks to all involved!"
